Renowned for his contributions to the entertainment industry, Zuri Kye Edwards was born on the 17th of July in 1973, to none other than the illustrious songstress Patti Labelle and Armstead Edwards. As the firstborn of this couple-turned-duo, Zuri ventured into the role of his mother’s manager and produced three magnificent movies.
Early Life
Zuri Kye Edwards and his family were rooted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States, thereby granting him American nationality by birth.
He is blessed with three siblings – Stanley Stocker-Edwards, Dodd Stocker-Edwards, and William Holte, and presently, he is happily married to Lona Edwards. Professionally, he excels as a talent manager and producer, presently serving as Patti Labelle’s esteemed manager.

Zuri’s mother, Patti Labelle, enjoys an eminent reputation as a celebrated singer and actor in America. Her name graces the credits of several popular TV shows, including “American Horror Story,” “A Different World,” and “Flame,” among others. Moreover, she played a leading role in the TV sitcom “Out All Night” and hosted numerous TV shows thereafter.
Before tying the knot with Patti, Zuri’s father, Armstead Edwards, was an educator. He later assumed the role of Patti’s manager until the year 2000, when Patti publicly announced their legal separation and subsequent filing for divorce. Their divorce was eventually finalized in 2003.
Patti’s Encounters
Patti herself was a victim of sexual assault by Jackie Wilson at the Brevoort Theatre in Brooklyn during the 1960s. Subsequently, she was briefly engaged to Otis Williams, a pioneer of the Temptations. However, Patti terminated the engagement, fearing it could jeopardize her flourishing career.
Later, she entered into matrimony with her long-time friend, Armstead Edwards, the schoolteacher, and together, they welcomed their son Zuri in 1973.
Patti once mentioned in an interview that her most significant accomplishment is her son, Zuri. Although he may be challenging to collaborate with, she recognizes that he always has the family’s best interests at heart and strives for excellence.
On her mother’s side, Zuri’s family has experienced untimely and premature deaths. Patti candidly disclosed in her autobiography that she had feared not making it to the age of 50. However, upon reaching this milestone, she expressed that her life had just commenced. Unfortunately, less than a year later, she was diagnosed with diabetes.
